Samaya Badrieh – President/Managing Editor
Samaya Badrieh is the president, the managing editor, and a writer for WoodinvilleNow. As managing editor, she encourages her staff to reach higher, take more creative risks, and push themselves beyond what they think they are capable of. Outside of journalism, she is the president of Science Club, a member of debate, and she loves to roller skate and listen to podcasts. In the fall, she hopes to attend the University of Washington. After college, her dream is to one day become a medical correspondent at CNN.
Parker Berman – Vice President/Satire Editor
Mariam Kazmi – Secretary/Culture Editor
Mariam Kazmi is a sophomore at Woodinville High School. She will be the secretary for Journalism Club this year. She is currently involved in debate, Model UN, science, FBLA, and Women in STEM at Woodinville. Outside of school, Mariam is the Founder and Co-President of a nonprofit organization called English 1 on 1. In her limited free time, Mariam loves to play the piano, bake, read, and, most of all write!
Soobin Jones – News Editor
Soobin Jones is a junior who recently moved to Washington from Maryland. She spends her free time with family, reading books, and thrifting. She loves horror movies and the fall season. Soobin is an editor and writer for the Woodinville Journalism Club and hopes to make the most of the 2020-21 school year.
Savannah Woolf – Writer
Sav is a freshman at Woodinville High School. She is an avid reader and writer with interest in current events, economics, diet, psychology and sociocultural studies. She values facts and logic over all else. Her favorite pastime is making sense of the puzzle that is human behavior.
Ayush Kulkarni – Website Designer
Ayush Kulkarni is a Junior at Woodinville High School. He will be one of the web designers for WoodinvilleNow this year. Ayush spent the majority of his childhood growing up in the UK, only recently moving to Washington before the start of his freshman year. Aside from journalism club, he is also the junior web-master for Science Club and a programmer on the Robotics team. Outside of school he enjoys playing his guitar and has recently gotten into biking.
Ikhlas Patel – Treasurer
This is Ikhlas Patel’s first year at Woodinville High School, and Ikhlas’s first year in the Journalism club! She is excited to get started! She would love to write about a sports column during her time at the school. She currently has a brother who attends Woodinville High School as a senior, and she really loves to play soccer. She plays for a club team as well as the state. Aside from school and athletics some things she likes to do are cook and hang out with friends. She usually likes to cook/bake desserts so she can have something sweet! In addition, she loves hanging with her friends and due to COVID-19 she misses that very much!
Signe Rohde – Writer
Signe Rohde is a junior at Woodinville and new to the Journalism Club! She loves to draw, read, and has an obsession with befriending crows. Other things include dancing at random times to make her friends laugh, taking pictures of all of the beautiful things in this world, and baking treats for others. This will be her first time writing for the club and she’s excited for this upcoming year!
Piper Hood – Op-Ed Editor/Website Designer
Piper Hood is a freshman at Woodinville High School. She enjoys listening to music, reading, watching TV shows, and playing videogames. Piper’s favorite genres of books are fantasy and sci-fi. She prefers to listen to alternative music. Her favorite TV show at the moment is Julie and the Phantoms. Over quarantine, she has spent most of her time playing the video game World of Warcraft. Piper also has a passion for graphic design but is unsure what to pursue as a career in the future.
Laura Martin
Laura is a freshman at Woodinville High school. She’s part of the journalism club and loves to write about history and art. She grew up in Woodinville and spends her free time outside of the club and school writing, reading, painting, hanging out with friends, and really loves frogs and her house plants. She’s excited to continue her high school career at WHS.
